Roynon Injury Puts Dampner on Rockets Win

Rye House Rockets 50 Isle of Wight 43

The Rockets injury jinx continued as 18 year old reserve Adam Roynon was taken to hospital with a suspected broken right ankle after a spill in Heat 8. Roynon who had won the Conference League Riders Title on the track 7 days ago tangled with the Islanders Nick Simmons on the first bend of a tight start and took no further part in proceedings as The Rockets completed their home league campaign with a win. Skipper Chris Neath was the star of the show returning his third full maximum against the Wightlink Islanders this season. After the meeting the crowd were given a boost by the sight of Stuart Robson taking 12 practice laps. Robson reported no reaction to his wrist injury which is protected by a brace. Promoter Len Silver will now decide whether to change his team to include last seasons skipper ahead of the play offs. In the meantime The Rockets have engaged the services of former rider Dan Giffard to guest for Roynon at Newport tommorow.
