Saints on the Slide
St Albans are just one place off the foot of the table following a 2-2 draw with fellow strugglers Southport at Clarence Park. Liam Blakeman gave the visitors a first half lead only for Saints Chris Watters to equalise ten minutes after the break. Mark Duffy restablished Southports lead after 70 minutes but Saints grabbed a point thanks to Gary Elphick's scrambled effort seven minutes from time.
St Albans: Bastock, Ada, Sangare, Elphick, Deen, Hann, Cracknell (Lopez 81), Davis, Watters (Archer 82), Clarke, Hastings.
Subs Not Used: Perks, Seeby, Marwa.

Super Sub Neilson Keeps Blues in Play Off Hunt
Two goals in three minutes from second half substitute Scott Neilson gave Ware a 2-0 victory over in form Wingate and Finchley at Wodson Park. the Blues should have been in front after a dominant first half display with Ed Thompson twice saving efforts from John Frendo. After the break though Ware rode their luck as keeper Luke Woods tipped Helman's effort over the bar before Hardy Pinto Morreira hit a post. Neilson's introduction changed the flow of the second half though and ultimately proved a masterstroke. He finished his first from close range after 79 minutes and then pulled down Paul Burton's pass three minutes later thrashing it into the top left hand corner to seal a vital win for The Blues as they chase a top five finish.
Ware: Woods: Blower: Spenceley: Wolf: Hammonds: Coughlan: Bardle: Frendo (Neilson): Horsey (Ramshaw): Burton: Stevens (Bradford)

Football Roundup

Nationwide Conference
Bad Day At The Office
Stevenage Borough slipped to their first defeat in 7 games going down 2-0 at promotion chasing Oxford United. Matt Day's header on the stroke of half time and a 59th minute own goal from Mark Beard who sliced Days free kick into his own net were enough to give United the points. it could have been worse for Borough as Michael Corcoron's shot rebounded off a post on an afternoon when Mark Stimson's side struggled throughout.
Stevenage: Julian, Fuller (Batt 58), Gaia, Henry, Nutter, Nurse, Hughes (Dobson 58), Beard, McMahon, Cole, Hakim (Slabber 78).
Subs Not Used: Potter, Oliver.

St Albans have now lost their last four games and are left looking nervously over their shoulders to the bottom three. Colin Lippiatts side suffered their latest reverse thanks to goals from Matt Blinkhorn after 16 minutes and Gary Thompson right on time.
Ram Marwa, Djoumin Sangare and Chris Seeby all wasted chances for St Albans before Morecambe sealed the win.
St Albans: Bastock, Seeby (Simon Martin 68), Elphick, Sangare (Basse 83), Deen, Hann, Marwa, Ada, Clarke, Hastings, Buari (Watters 68).
Subs Not Used: Perks, Roddis.

Ryman League Division One North
Ware remain in 8th place in the table after a 1-1 draw at Canvey Island. The Blues have now lost just one of their last four. There was no change at the top as both Hornchurch and Harlow had their matches postponed. Apart from Canvey, Maldon were the only team in the top five in action continuing their impressive recent run winning 1-0 at Sudbury. Elsewhere the Manager of the Month curse hit Potters Bars Andy Leese as The Scholars lost to a Matt Reed goal at home to Bury Town.

Herts Senior County League
Buntingford won the match of the day beating Whitewebbs 2-1 at The Bury. Town have now won seven of their last nine in the league as goals from Liam Beaumont and Will Turl pulled Paul Attfield's team to within one point of leaders Hadley. Hertford Heath are fourth after a 3-2 win at Bushey Rangers while Nick Darke and Mitchell Haylock were amongst he scorers as Sandridge Rovers won their first league game since December 16th beating Hinton 3-1. Codicote have now lost two of their last three the latest reverse a 4-1 thumping at Met Police Bushey. Kebworth are now just two points above the relegation zone following a 2-1 reverse at the hands of leaders Hadley.
In Division One goals from Bruce Hutchinson and Lee Taylor condemned Wodson Park to their third defeat in four games as Park Street took their lead at the top of the table to eight points with a 2-0 win. Hatfield Town progressed in the Anagram Records Trophy in dramatic fashion beating Frenford Senior 5-3 on penalties after the game had ended 1-1 after extra time.
