Featured Game
Citizens Give Hertford The Blues
Welwyn Garden City 3 Hertford 1
Goals from Matt Wardle, Alex Kinsley and Lee Benmore provided Welwyn Garden City with the perfect build up to next weeks FA Vase tie. The Citizens were good value for their win in an often bad tempered derby at Herns Lane. The home side should have been in front after only 6 minutes when Mark Virgo dived to his right to deny Kinsley’s penalty awarded when Anthony Beamish appeared to be pushed in the box. Virgo was again quickly in action denying Harry Hunt with 8 minutes gone. It was an afternoon when both keepers produced some excellent saves Citizens Simon Bartley denying Ryan Redford and Kevin Cooper as Hertford began to gain more first half possession. With the half drawing to a close though it was Welwyn Garden City who took the lead. Hunt’s header rebounded off the bar Richard Tiexiera was quickest to the rebound only for Kevin Kilroy to clear his effort off the line before Matt Wardle made it third time lucky for the home side scrambling the ball home. A half time confrontation between Hertford boss Dave Greenwood and the match officials set the mark for an ill tempered second half which started with the Citizens doubling their lead. Kinsley beating Virgo from 25 yards out after 47 minutes. The game that had been simmering then boiled over as Tiexiera saw red after a head butt on Tony Neilson while Hertford’s Asley McAloon was fortunate to only receive a yellow card for throwing a punch in the reulting melee. After Barlett had again denied Cooper and Redford, Panayiotis Panayiotou gave Hertford hope sliding the ball in from inside the box. With Hunt providing a good outlet Howard Cowley’s team weathered the storm substitute Lee Benmore reacting quickest when Virgo parried Hunt’s header to seal a memorable win.
Welwyn Garden City: Bartley: Dawes: Tiexiera: Yates: Beamish: McKay: Hunt: Brindley: Wardle: Kinsley: Griggs:
Hertford: Virgo: McAloon: Ardiles: Kilroy: Draper: Panayiotou: Taylor: Neilson: Redford: Cooper: Roberts

Premier Division
Hertford failed to take advantage of slip ups by the top two. Edgware being held 1-1 at Harefield and Leverstock Green losing their second game in three 4-3 at home to Broxbourne Borough. London Colney stay 5th despite their second straight away defeat, this time the Blueboys going down 2-1 at Kingsbury. Welwyn Garden City are 6th their 3-1 win over Hertford was only the Citizens second home win in the league. Colney Heath continue to struggle a 3-0 reverse at Aylesbury Vale making it four games without awin for Heath.

Herts Senior County League
Hertford Heath's run of three straight wins came to an end at Met Police Bushey they though stay fourth as the top three were not in action. Heath going down 3-2 with Neil Barella's 13th goal of the season not enough to earn a point. Standon and Puckeridge stay rooted to the foot of the table a 5-3 defeat at Hinton was their seventh in a row. In Division One Allenburys continue to be the masters of inconsuistency crashing 5-1 at Chipperfield. In the Herts Centenary Trophy 2 goals from Phil Scanlon couldn't stop Codicote going out 4-3 at London Lions while Wodson Park bowed out of the Intermediate Cup losing 4-3 at home to Welwyn Garden City Reserves.
