Twenty20 Champs Seek Double
The current craze captivating cricket fans rolls into Hertford this weekend when Balls Park hosts the regional rounds of the National Twenty20 competition. A large crowd is expected on Sunday to see if last years champions Welwyn Garden City can repeat the feat by overcoming local rivals Hoddesdon, St Margaretsbury and Hertford.
The competition gives a chance for some new faces to shine as Hertfordshire are involved in a Minor Counties league match against Northumberland at Bishops Stortford. The City quartet of Aaron Laraman, Nick Lamb, Simon White and Ben Frazer will miss out as will Hertford´s run machine Steve Cordingley and spinner Phil Carlson.
All teams play each other and the action gets underway at 11.00
A bumper weekend starts on Saturday with a key promotion clash as 3rd place Stevenage visit Hertford. The Digswell club who are aiming for the league and cup double could retake top spot by beating bottom side Hemel if Hoddesdon win at Radlett.
