Cricket Roundup
Welwyn Garden City stayed in touch with Home Counties Division Two East leaders Radlett beating Hoddesdon in style. Rory Coutts purple patch threatened to give Hoddy a substantial total but his 91 lacked support and the eventual total of 180 was some way short of a challenging target. The Digswell pair Nick Lamb and Aaron Laraman soon confirmed this by scoring 76 not out apiece to lead City home at 6 an over. Radlett maintained their advantage with Potters Bar having no answer to Shane Burger´s 6-28. The home side were dismissed for just 66 although Radlett struggled to knock off the runs as Andy Colquhoun (5-26) gave the leaders a few nervous moments. In contrast batsmen were in charge at Stevenage who took the opportunity to claim third place with a thumping defeat of Sawbridgeworth. Gary Brown posted a magnificent undefeated 113 and Saeed Ali Kazmi (86) kept him company to take Stevenage to 264. Gareth Berg continued his marvellous season with the ball to take 6-52 and set up a 98 run win. Hertford came close to chasing down 252 as county opener Steve Cordingley hit 125. His dismissal late on allowed North Mymms to snatch a draw with Hertford 5 runs short. On a batsmens pitch Krish Canagasabey (6-80) kept the target chaseable and Wendell Roberts (7-58) enabled the strugglers to pick up useful points. However Knebworth Park lost heavily with David Lowe´s 68 the only positive note in a 110 run defeat
