Cricket Roundup

Wins for Radlett and Welwyn Garden City leave the Home Counties promotion places unchanged. Rory Coutts did his best to give Hoddesdon a challenging total at Radlett but his unbeaten century lacked support and Rob Smith responded with 94 not out to see the leaders home in under 40 overs. City kept in touch in a low scoring win over Hemel, Martin James (57) the only player to reach a half century at Digswell. Neither Stevenage nor Hertford could force victory on a flat pitch at Balls Park as Nazir Ahmed (115) and Gareth Berg (89no) took Stevenage to 315. Hertford never looked likely to threaten the target as Phil Carlson (59) ensured there were no scares for the home side. In the relegation scrap Knebworth Park lost to North Mymms and sink into the drop zone after a 2 wicket defeat despite 50s for Ryan Skeggs and Tom Jenkins

Hoddesdon took the honours in the regional round of the National Twenty20 Cup winning all 3 matches. The best performance came against last years champions Welwyn Garden City as Jamie Curtis (63) Matt Harris (54) and Rory Coutts (52no) set up a challenging 223-3 in 20 overs. Curtis then dismissed both City openers and after Murtaza Hussein (53) had given the champions hope Hoddy wrapped up a 78 run win
Hoddy´s 3 half centurions repeated the feat against Hertford posting 242 to win by 67 runs and completed the set by overcoming St Margaretsbury by 2 wickets
