Rockets Set Bear Trap
Rye House Rockets 54 Redcar Bears 40
Rye House Rockets gained two more vital Premier League points on an incident packed evening in Hoddesdon. Newcomers Redcar pushed the home side all the way and in 1992 World Champion Gary Havelock had the meetings top performer. Havelock who last rode the track in 1985 was only beaten in the final heat when Chris Neath and Edward Kennett stretched the home advantage to 14 points. Earlier Tommy Allen who put in a solid display was unlucky not to beat Havelock when he clashed with team mate Ross Brady. Number 8 Ben Powell did well to survive some tough tactics by the Bears Matthew Tresarrieu to score his first points in Rye House colours while Steve Boxalls fine run of form continued as he top scored for the third meeting running.
Rockets Scorers:
Edward Kennett 10+1 (5)
Rider Replacement Jamie Courtney
Ross Brady 6 (4)
Tommy Allen 9+1 (5)
Chris Neath 11+1
Danny Betson 1+1 (3)
Steve Boxall 15+2 (7)
Ben Powell 2+1 (1)
