Laraman and Frazer Spark Recovery

The Welwyn Garden City duo Aaron Laraman and Ben Frazer helped Herts recover from a sticky start against Bucks on day one of the Minor Counties Championship match at Gerrards Cross. After Andy Lewis had won the toss and decided to bat Herts slipped to 93-6 at lunch. Laraman then hit 88 and Frazer 56 in a stand of 132 which lifted the visitors to a total of 258. Former England spinner Keith Medlycott then struck 51 as Bucks ended the first day on 111-1.

In Saturday´s club action Hertford inflicted Welwyn Garden City´s first defeat of the season which saw the Digswell team overtaken at the top of the Home Counties table. Laraman (3-32) and Frazer (4-42) reduced Hertford to 89-7 but Richard Cordingley hit 44 and with good support from the tail the Balls Park team reached 167-9 from 60 overs. Cordingley then took 2-28 as WGC lost wickets regularly against the pace of Krishan Canagasabey and were dismissed 20 short of their target.
A superb undefeated 105 from Gary Brown and 58 from Gareth Berg saw Stevenage to victory against in form Hoddesdon after Matt Harris had been dismissed four short of his ton for the hosts.
An unbeaten century partnership between Mark Saxby (60) and Craig Pietersen (62) steered North Mymms to a comfortable win at Hemel, but Anthony Pratt´s 5-89 failed to prevent Knebworth Park crashing to heavy defeat by Potters Bar.
