Herts Face Uphill Struggle

With defeats in their opening 2 games in the Minor Counties Knockout Competition, Hertfordshire cricketers will need a minor miracle to qualify for the semi-finals. After losing to Cambridgeshire in the opening group 4 match, new captain Andy Lewis saw his team miss out in a tense finale at Radlett on Sunday. Knebworth Park all rounder Tony Skeggs took 3-32 to restrict Wiltshire to 208 but despite Steven Lowe hitting 61 and 53 from Welwyn Garden City´s Aaron Laraman, Herts fell 14 runs short

The team travel to Aston Rowant for a must win game against Oxfordshire on Sunday 14th May

Meanwhile in the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy 137 from Cliff Cavener and Richard Cordingley´s 6-33 enabled Hertford to reach round 2 after a 50 run win at Acton. This weekend sees a double header at Balls Park with the league opener against Potters Bar on Saturday and West Herts visit in the ECB Cockspur Cup Round 2 on Sunday
