Herts Confident of Championship Success

Hertfordshire cricket team begin their new league campaign on Sunday in good spirits after a resounding success against Oxfordshire in the Knockout Trophy. Determined to improve on last seasons disappointing ninth place in the Minor Counties Eastern Division new captain Andy Lewis is excited about what lies ahead. "Understanding how to win is a key to having a successful team and the way we beat Oxfordshire shows us just how to do that."
There is one change to the team for the opener against Bedfordshire, West Herts batsmen Spencer Fan replacing Stephen Lowe. The batting looks strong led by former captain and ex Surrey star David Ward, the highly experienced Aaron Laraman, Welwyn Garden City´s Ben Frazer and wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Jenkins from Knebworth Park
All rounders Simon White from WGC and Knebworth´s Tony Skeggs add extra depth
Laraman, White and Skeggs will share seam bowling duties with Hitchin´s David Moore, Frazer and Matt Smith of West Herts provide the spin option
Bedfordshire arrive without a win this season as the 3 day match gets underway at Hertford´s Balls Park ground at 11am on Sunday

Lewis will get a taste of the pitch on Saturday as Hertford host North Mymms in the latest round of Home Counties matches with both teams in search of their first win.
