Cricket Preview
Hertfordshire are gearing up for their first competitive match of the new season. Wiltshire await in the Minor Counties Knockout Trophy to be played at Radlett´s Cobden Hill ground on Sunday May 7th. The Herts squad has 3 representatives from Welwyn Garden City including new signing and former Middlesex all rounder Aaron Laraman. Ben Frazer and Simon White complete the Digswell trio while Tom Jenkins retains the gloves alongside Knebworth Park teammates Tony Skeggs and Matt Smith.
The club season gets underway on Saturday 13th May. Newly promoted Hoddesdon have high hopes of carrying their form of last year into the new Home Counties Premier League campaign and start at Sawbridgeworth. Hertford who gained their place by finishing second to Hoddy entertain Potters Bar. Welwyn Garden City and Knebworth Park aim to improve on their midtable finish last year and meet on day one at Digswell Park while Stevenage who finished with the best record among local sides last time round start off at North Mymms
St Margaretsbury found life tough in the Home Counties Premier winning just 2 of their 18 league matches and face the new Saracens Herts League season with renewed optimism and a visit from new boys Northwood. Hitchin and Letchworth seek a better return than last years 4 wins apiece as their campaigns get underway against Harpenden and Langleybury respectively
