Agony for Rockets Joy for Raiders
It was a day of high emotion at Newport's Hayley Stadium as the Rye House Rockets missed out on their first Premier Trophy away win of the season by a single point. That disappointment though was short lived as the Elmside Raiders made a storming start to their Conference League campaign. The Rockets 47-46 defeat was sealed when Newport's Craig Watson and Carl Wilkinson shut out Chris Neath to share the final Heat won by Edward Kennett. Again the Rockets were indebted to Kennett, Neath and Steve Boxall who contributed 37 points between them. In contrast the Elmside Raiders 59-31 success was based on a solid performance throughout the line up with Lee Strudwick 12 +2 and Danny Betson 9+2 both outstanding on their league debuts.
