Rockets Start Title Defence With a Win
Rye House Rockets 53 Sheffield Tigers 40
The Rye House Rockets started their Premier League campaign with a hard fought victory against the Sheffield Tigers on a damp evening in Hoddesdon. Afternoon rain made track conditions difficxult for both sides but when the Rockets jumped into a 12 point lead after just three heats it looked as if the crowd were in for a one sided affair. To their credit though the Tigers fought back and it wasn't until Luke Bowen and Tommy Allen combined for a Heat 14 maximum that the home side could celebrate victory. Bowen and reserve partner Steve Boxall both had big nights contributing 18 points between them.
Rockets Scorers
Stuart Robson 9
Jamie Courtney 3+2
Edward Kennett 12+1
Tommy Allen 7+2
Chris Neath 4+1
Luke Bowen 9
Steve Boxall 9+2
