Football Roundup

Nationwide Conference
Stevenage Borough gave their promotion hopes a huge boost with victory over fellow contenders Morecambe. Jon Nurse's first-half goal allowed them to leap-frog their opponents into third place. From a free-kick, Nurse worked himself into a one-on-one with Steven Drench and then lobbed the advancing keeper. Morecambe thought they had equalised when Garry Thompson's point-blank effort looked to have crossed the line before goalkeeper Alan Julian cleared.

There is still no stopping Ware. Glen Alzapedi's side moved 8 points clear at the top of the table thanks to a 4-2 win at Camberley. Both second placed Brook House and third placed Flackwell Heath had their matches postponed.

Spartan South Midlands Premier
There was a welcome relief for the fans at Herns lane as Welwyn Garden City picked up their first win in 5 league games overcoming Broxbourne Borough 1-0. No joy elsewhere though with 3-0 home defeats for London Colney against Biggleswade United and St Margaretsbury at the hands of leaders Oxford City.

Herts Senior Centenary Trophy
Codicote will meet Hoddesdon in this years final. Jim Bundy's team beat Bushey Rangers 4-1 while Hoddesdon booked their place with a 2-0 win at Bedmond Social.

Herts Senior County League
The race for the Premier Division Title is back on after Hatfield Town inflicted a second defeat in a week on leaders Whitewebbs. Neil Doctor, Adie Hamill and Dan Stewart were on target for Town. Former Hertford striker Micky Jarrett replying with a double for the visitors. Whitewebbs are still 15 points clear but Hatfield have 4 games in hand. Buntingford are third on goal difference after they chalked up win number 6 in their current run 2-0 at relegation threatened Little Munden Carl Smith with both goals. With leaders Standon & Puckeridge and Hertford Heath both taking a rest Bovingdon moved into second place in Division One with an 11-0 thumping of Croxley Guild. Knebworth stay 4th after their game at home to Old Parmiterians was abandoned after 75 minutes. A Fraser Triggs brace had put Knebworth 2-1 up at the time. No luck for Lemsford as they went down 3-1 at home to fast improving Sarratt.
