Football Roundup

Nationwide Conference
A goal from Jon Nurse was good enough to take Stevenage Borough up to third in the table as they overcame fellow promotion hopefuls Morcambe at Broadhall Way. Nurse struck with 10 minutes left of a tense first half. The visitors felt they should have had an equaliser when Garry Thompsons effort looked to have crossed the line before being cleared by Alan Julian.

Subs Not Used: Gore, Goodliffe, Berquez.

Ryman League Division Two
Ware stay 4 points clear at the top of the table after a 2-0 win at Wembley, Matt Allen and Danny Spendlove on target. The victory took the Blues unbeaten run to ten games. Hertford are just one place off the bottom after being held to a goaless draw by basement dwellers Camberley at Hertingfordbury Park

Spartan South Midlands League
A poor day forWelwyn Garden City on the afternoon when they should have been facing the biggest game in the clubs history in the last 16 of the FA Vase The Citizens went down 1-0 at Biggleswade Town. London Colney are 12th in the table but can take heart from a 0-0 draw against leaders Oxford City at Cotlandswick. St Margaretsbury are a place below after recoding the same scoreline against Ruislip Manor. In Division One Hoddesdon's chances of a quick return to the top flight seem to be fading fast after a 2-0 defeat at Buckingham Athletic.

Herts Senior County League
Buntingford added to their reputation as the Premier Division's form team Paul Attfield's side recording their 4th straight win 4-2 at home to Met Police Bushey. A brace from Carl Smith took his goal tally to 8 in 4 games Town's other strikes coming from Duncan Easley and an own goal. None of the top three were in action Hinton's draw against Evergreen taking them above Hatfield Town into 4th place. Standon and Puckeridge are now 4 points clear of Hertford Heath at the top of Division One, Simon Coughlan scoring twice as they beat bottom club Croxley Guild 5-2. No joy for Allenburys as they went down 3-1 at home to Cuffley. There was disappointment in the Semi Finals of the Herts FA Intermediate Cup as both Knebworth and Hertford Heath lost out. Knebworth were beaten by the only goal of the game at Bishops Stortford Swifts while Heath lost 9-7 on penalties to Hemel Hempstead Reserves.
