McGleish Double Sends Borough Packing

Northampton 2 Stevenage Borough 0

Stevenage Borough
bowed out of the FA Cup after two goals from Scott McGleish in as many first half minutes gave Northampton a third round tie away to Crystal Palace.
McGleish put the Cobblers ahead on 43 minutes, knocking in the rebound after Stevenage keeper Alan Julian parried Martin Smith's powerful shot. Then the former Barnet man made no mistake when left with a free header from a corner. Stevenage can have few complaints about the result after failing to produce a meaningful save out of home keeper Lee Harper.

Stevenage: Julian, Warner, Quinn, Laker (Gregory 57), Perpetuini, Bulman, Brough (Williams 73), Berquez (Stamp 45), Boyd, Elding, Nurse.
Subs Not Used: Goodliffe, Gore.

Booked: Quinn, Brough, Bulman, Berquez.

Att: 4,407
