Welwyn Garden City 3 Slimbridge 1

Welwyn Garden City reached the last 32 of the FA Vase with a comprehensive victory over Hellenic League Slimbridge. After the first quarter of an hour, the result was never in doubt. 2 goals in 2 minutes knocked the stuffing out of Slimbridge. The first a headed own goal on 12 mins following a cross from the right, followed immediately when Devira tapped in a low cross from 6 yards. The game was made safe on the hour when Wardle got to a through ball just before the keeper and toe-poked it home. Slimbridge got a consolation on 89 mins when substitute Varnam turned in a low cross. The Citizens have now reached the National stage of the draw which is made at lunchtime on Monday.
