Rockets Lift Premier Trophy
A long wait for silverware is finally over for the Rye House speedway team. Ahead by 2 points from Saturdays away leg Rockets signalled their intent by dominating Heat 1 courtesy of Stuart Robson and Edward Kennett against Champions Chase winner Magnus Zetterstrom guesting for Workington. Tommy Allen´s heroics maintained the lead in Heat 2 then 2 successive 5-1s from Brent Werner/ Daniel King and Chris Neath/ Tommy Allen gave Rockets a comfortable advantage
Workington introduced former Hoddesdon favourite Scott Robson in Heat 7 who kept the visitors hopes alive but after another 5-1 from Robson and Kennett Rockets finally secured the win in Heat 10 with a superb 2nd from Steve Boxall behind Neath
Werner and Allen celebrated with another 5-1 in Heat 12 before Workington salvaged pride with a couple of late wins
Afterwards promotor Len Silver paid tribute to a team that had bonded well to secure Rockets first senior trophy in 25 years.
