Rye House Rockets conceded a slender 4 point deficit in Fridays Knockout Cup 1st Round 1st leg at Edinburgh´s Armadale track. In wet conditions the Rockets led early through 4-2s from the Tommy Allen-Steve Boxall and Stuart Robson-Edward Kennett combinations in Heats 2 and 5. Brent Werner made an impact in Heat 7 before his departure to join the USA team as with Daniel King the Rockets built a 24-18 lead.
It was nip and tuck between the teams until an Edinburgh 5-1 in Heat 14 after Tommy Allen fell on the second bend
The second and deciding leg takes place Saturday evening at Hoddesdon starting 7pm
