Cents Tame Bears

St Albans Centurions gained revenge for their defeat at Coventry Bears last season pulling away at the end of a hard fought game to win 38-26 and retain 2nd place in National League Three.

Colin Baker made 3 changes from last weeks win at Birmingham, Welwyn´s Dene Miller returning with Richard Tafa and Latu Makaafi gaining reward for their second half display against the Bulldogs with a starting place

Despite their indifferent form the League Three champions proved hard to break down and although Miller again achieved a hattrick of tries the teams could not be parted. Level pegging through the first half the Bears scored a try to lead by four at the break. Cents fought back to level at 26 apiece and proved the dominant force in the closing stages
Richard Tafa confirmed his promise one of 5 try scorers, with Eugene Thompson, Luke Baxter and Kristian Warner breaking through the Bears cage
Jack Malin was reliable with the boot in kicking 4 conversions and a penalty to seal an impressive result, keep the teams perfect away record intact with the ultimate test to come next Saturday at their conquerors on opening day, Bradford Dudley Hill

Centurions Team:
K Warner, A Long, D Miller, R Tafa, L Baxter, S Rampling, J Malin, R Dube, G Sione, E Thompson, R Louw, L Makaafi, R Smith
Subs - M Okwusogu, S Doyle, G Huson
