Citizens Choose Cowley
Welwyn Garden City Football have announced the appointment of Howard Cowley as their new 1st team Manager.
City chairman Terry Hazell said of Cowley’s appointment “We feel confident that Howard has the necessary experience not only in the South Midlands League but in all divisions of the Ryman league too. It is general knowledge that we are an ambitious club and promotion to either the Southern or Ryman league is anticipated in the next few seasons. We want to progress and in Howard we feel we have the right man to take us there”
Howard Cowley’s former clubs include Harrow Boro, in the Ryman Premier League, and the now defunct Tring Town who he led to their highest league finish for 13 years. Howard has also had spells at both Berkhamstead Town and Hemel Hempstead Town. But joins the Citizens from Herts neighbours and fellow South Midland Premier league side Harpenden Town.
Commenting on his appointment Cowley said “I am delighted to be invited to be the new Manager at WGC FC. The club has made considerable progress over the past few years, and my aim is to continue that. The foundations for success are in place, and I am confident that exciting times lie ahead.”
Cowley’s first task will be to select his assistants and will be speaking to existing staff of both the first and Reserve teams. Players will be expected back in training on Tuesday 5th of July.
