The Elmside Raiders made it 2 out of 2 at home this season with a narrow victory over last seasons champions Mildenhall. A damp track and a series of machinery problems saw The Raiders, who were without skipper Steve Boxall, struggle for the first part of the meeting. It wasn't until heat 9 that the home side got their noses in front thanks to a maximum from Barry Burchatt and Luke Bowen. Chris Johnson scored 13 points on his debut inflicting Jon Armstrong's only defeat of the night with an excellent in Heat 11. But it took a 5-1 from Burchatt and Gary Cottham in the penultimate heat to finally secure the league points.
