Buntingford confirmed their place as Herts Senior County League Champions by thrashing London Lions 8-1 at The Bury. Town needed just a point to take the title and were never worried by a Lions line up who were always second best. Chris Hardy gave Buntingford the lead after half an hour before goals from Will Turl and Mark Wright put them comfortably ahead at half time. Paul Attfield's team then ran riot after the break Turl making it four, Wright completing a hattrick with Tom Malins and substitute Jan Stephens completing the rout.

Super Sub Neilson Keeps Blues in Play Off Hunt
Two goals in three minutes from second half substitute Scott Neilson gave Ware a 2-0 victory over in form Wingate and Finchley at Wodson Park. the Blues should have been in front after a dominant first half display with Ed Thompson twice saving efforts from John Frendo. After the break though Ware rode their luck as keeper Luke Woods tipped Helman's effort over the bar before Hardy Pinto Morreira hit a post. Neilson's introduction changed the flow of the second half though and ultimately proved a masterstroke. He finished his first from close range after 79 minutes and then pulled down Paul Burton's pass three minutes later thrashing it into the top left hand corner to seal a vital win for The Blues as they chase a top five finish.

The Rye House Rockets will kick off their 2007 season with a challenge against the Redcar Bears. The home leg will take place at the Hoddesdon circuit on March 17th and gives Rockets fans a chance to see former favourite Jamie Courtney in action with his new club. First up in the Premier Trophy are Somerset complete with Premier League Riders Champion Magnus Zetterstrom the Rebels are due in Hoddesdon on Saturday March 24th. The Rockets first Premier League action will be a visit to new boys Birmingham on April 18th, while local rivals Mildenhall stand between Len Silver's team and a place in the Second Round of the KO Cup, the two clubs go head to head over the weekend of the 28th April.

Steve Morison's 17th Conference goal of the season gave borough a point in an entertaining clash with promotion chasing Gravesend. Saints Go Marching On
St Albans followed up the midweek win at Stevenage Borough with a hard fought victory over Halifax at Clarence Park. The home side then had to play out a tense final period as Darryn Stamp scored for the visitors with Dean Cracknell receiving a red card in injury time.

Hertford wrapped up their sixth win in a row beating Langford 5-1. Goals from Pablo Ardiles, Nick Marsh, Lee roberts and a Kevin Cooper double did the trick for Dave Greenwood's team. the Blues though failed to close the gap on leaders Edgware who thrashed Colney Heath 6-0. Welwyn Garden City are up to 6th after a 2-1 win over London Colney at Herns Lane. in Division One Hoddesdon recorded their first win of the new year 3-0 over Bedford United.

Buntingford took pride of place crushing Wormley Rovers 10-0 at The Bury. Will Turl notched a hattrick, Mark Wright and Luke Robins scored twice while Matt Turl, Jan Stephens and Liam Beaumont completed Rovers misery. Hatfield Town have now gone three without a win after being held 2-2 by fast improving Standon & Puckeridge. Ware bounced back from Saturday's defeat at Hornchurch by beating tenants Enfield 2-1 at Wodson Park in front of a bumper Bank Holiday crowd. Chris Ellerbeck put Ware in front right on half time, Paul Oshin pulling Enfield level 3 minutes into the second half. The Blues though weren't to be denied Ellerbeck striking the winner with only 2 minutes remaining. Elsewhere the top 4 all won leaving Ware in 6th place 12 points behind leaders Hornchurch.

London Colney returned to winning ways after two straight away defeats beating Biggleswade Town 2-0 but there was no joy for St Margaretsbury who lost 1-0 at the Recreation Ground against Chalfont. Colney Heath moved into the top half of the table for the first time thanks to a 1-0 victory at Broxbourne Borough. In Division One Hoddesdon's good league form continued as the Lilywhites beat leaders Cockfosters 2-0 at Lowfield.

Sandridge Rovers kept in touch with the leaders thrashing Bushey Rangers 5-1 with Chris Wickens scoring four. Codicote failed to build on last weeks victory over Hinton being held to a goaless draw by bottom club Standon & Puckeridge. Knebworth bounced back from their Annagram Trophy defeat beating Hinton 2-0. Craig Woodham scored twice as Hatfield Town booked a place in the 4th round of the Annagram Trophy beating London Lions 5-2 after extra time. Adie Hamill, Gary Coley and Lewis Field got the other goals.
In Division One Lemsford crashed 5-1 at home to Croxley Guild a Matt Jones goal providing the only bright spot for the home side. Allenburys are up to 4th place following a 4-3 win over Bovingdon. St Albans recent revival came to an end in Yorkshire as Halifax recovered from an early shock to leave Colin Lippiatt’s side well beaten. The Citizens were good value for their win in an often bad tempered derby at Herns Lane. The home side should have been in front after only 6 minutes when Mark Virgo dived to his right to deny Kinsley’s penalty awarded when Anthony Beamish appeared to be pushed in the box. Virgo was again quickly in action denying Harry Hunt with 8 minutes gone. It was an afternoon when both keepers produced some excellent saves Citizens Simon Bartley denying Ryan Redford and Kevin Cooper as Hertford began to gain more first half possession. With the half drawing to a close though it was Welwyn Garden City who took the lead. Hunt’s header rebounded off the bar Richard Tiexiera was quickest to the rebound only for Kevin Kilroy to clear his effort off the line before Matt Wardle made it third time lucky for the home side scrambling the ball home. A half time confrontation between Hertford boss Dave Greenwood and the match officials set the mark for an ill tempered second half which started with the Citizens doubling their lead. St Albans lifted themselves out of the relegation zone as they secured their first victory in 4 games. Saints raced into a three goal league after going ahead with one of the quickest goals of the season. Eliott Benyon firing home from 12 yards with only 18 seconds gone. Pride of place goes to Welwyn Garden City after the Citizens cruised into the third round of the FA Vase with a 5-1 win at Bedford United Matt Wardle grabbing a brace . Hertford are up to third in the Premier Division after the 7-1 demolition of Holmer Green. Dave Greenwood’s side have now scored 58 goals so far this season. Kevin Cooper scored four with Ryan Redford adding a couple to take his season tally to 24. Kevin Kilroy got the Blues other goal his first for the club. London Colney slipped to their first defeat in six games the Blueboys going down 2-1 at Royston. No joy also for St Margaretsbury who continue to be inconsistent under new boss Martin Gurney. Saints lost 3-2 at Holmer Green. Colney Heath picked up a useful point drawing 2-2 at Langford.
In Division One Hoddesdon’s revival continued with a 3-2 win at Buckingham Athletic. The Lilywhites have now gone five unbeaten and are up to sixth in the table.

Hatfield Town are up to third after their sixth win in a row. The prolific Craig Woodham grabbed a brace as Town beat Knebworth 4-1. In the only other Premier Division game of the day goals from Duncan Easley, Tim Jarman and Mark Wright gave Buntingford a 3-2 win over Bedmond Social. In Division One it was a case of Band of Brothers for leaders Lemsford who crushed hapless Loughton 10-0. Chris Jones grabbed four brother Matt helped himself to a hattrick while Peter and Steve Cross also got themselves on the scoresheet. Allenburys are 5th following their sixth win in seven games 3-2 against Mill End. Little Munden took their tally to nine in two games beating St Peters 3-0. In the Anagram Records Trophy there were wins for Sandridge Rovers 3-2 against Elliott Star and Hertford Heath who beat Winslow United 4-0 thanks to two goals apiece for Phil Davies and Neil Barella. Northampton Town midfielder Bradley Johnson is the latest recruit at Broadhall Way. 19 year old Johnson joins on a months loan from The Cobblers having signed professional forms with the club in 2005 having graduated through the youth set-up. Meanwhile St Albans boss Colin Lippiatt has secured the services of striker Elliot Benyon until mid January after Bristol City agreed to extend his loan deal. Adie Hamill notched a brace taking his season tally to twelve while Craig Woodham scored his third in three games. Goals from Nick Drake and Denys Ryan weren’t enough to stop Sandridge Rovers losing their second straight game 3-2 against Elliott Star. Codicote won their first game in six 3-1 at Bushey Rangers. Standon and Puckeridge are now four points adrift at the foot of the table following a 3-0 reverse against London Lions.
Lemsford are two points clear at the top of Division One. Chris and Matt Jones with two of the goals in the 3-1 win over St Peters. Allenburys recent good run came to an end going down 4-2 at Bovingdon. Andy Robinson and Terry Ernest on target for Sports. Kennett Bids Farwell In Style

Edward Kennett took the Ace of Herts Trophy in front of a bumper crowd at Rye House and then announced his intention to quit the Premier League Rockets next season in order to concentrate on Elite League racing. Kennett beat former favourite Davy Watt in an exciting final which proved a fitting finale to what has been a traumatic season for the Hoddesdon club. Injuries having forced promoter Len Silver to use 21 riders throughout the course of the campaign. The crowd were given a taste of what's to come when racing resumes on 3rd March 2007 as new signing Tai Woffinden earned a place in the semi finals before bowing out. Kennett who wore the letter L on his kevlars proved a worthy champion and afterwards Team Manager John Sampford said " He has achieved everything he can at this level and he's going to be a difficult man to replace."

Borough Through With Ease But Saints Crash Out
Stevenage Borough now face a trip to Wrexham in the 1st Round of the FA Cup after a comfortable victory over Forest Green Rovers at Broadhall Way. George Boyd gave Mark Stimson's team the lead after 38 minutes Steve Morison notching a second half brace before Adam Miller put Borough four up with only 66 minutes gone.
St Albans crashed out at the first attempt going down 2-1 at seasoned cup campaigners Yeading. Tom Davis scored Saints goal from the penalty spot in the last minute.

Ware have now gone four league games without awin after a 2-1 reverse at Waltham Forest. The Blues are now 14th in the table. There was ashock at the top as leaders Harlow were beaten for the first time this season losing 2-0 at home to Aveley.

Hertford Lose Out in Thriller
Hertford were knocked off the top of the table after Edgware came from behind to beat the Blues 3-2. Ryan Redford gave the Blues the lead but the home side fought back to earn all three points despite a Kevin Cooper penalty that took his goal tally to 15. London Colney stay 4th after a 2-2 draw at Biggleswade United while goals from Harry Hunt and Matt Wardle maintained Welwyn Garden City's unbeaten away record as the Citizens won 2-1 at Chalfont. St Margaretsbury have now won just one of their last six the latest headache for manager Ian Harte coming courtesy of a 3-1 home defeat by Kingsbury. Matt Maskell on target for Bury. Colney Heath celebrated their first win in three Martin Standen and James Parratt with the goals that beat Tring Athletic.

With Hertford Heath in cup action Hadley missed out on the chance to pull away at the top of the table going down 2-1 at Sandridge Rovers. Codicote have now lost three of their last four after a 4-1 defeat at Knebworth. Graham and Richard Dove amongst the scorers for the home side. In Division One a brace from Matt Jones and a goal for brother Chris weren't enough to prevent leaders Lemsford going down 5-3 at home to North Mymms. Park Street closed to within a point after beating Little Munden 3-1. Harminder Tumber on target for Munden. Tony Kempster, Stephen Hunt and Steve Coughlan got the goals as Wodson Park won their secomd straight game beating Loughton 3-1. Allenburys had Andrew and Tim Cartwright to thank for their 2-1 win over Croxley Guild.
Craig Woodham scored the only goal of the game as Hatfield Town beat Buntingford 1-0 in the Centenary Trophy while Neil Barella notched a hattrick as Hertford Heath advanced by thrashing Elliott Star 5-1.

Patched Up Superblues Crash Out

A Superblues side missing a host of first team players including influential Fly Half Kieran Davies ultimately proved no match for their Division Three North opponents. Leading 20-13 at the break thanks to a brace from Charlie Thomas and a Ben Storey try close to half time it looked as if Hertford might carve out an unlikely victory. The visitors though who went in front after only 3 minutes when Tony Howcroft crashed over the line put together 19 unanswered second half points to ensure a place in round two. Skipper Ross Winney was the star of the show scoring 22 points including a stunning 40 metre drop goal after 63 minutes. Hertford must now regroup for the visit of Southend in the league next Saturday.

Rockets Beat Rivals To Sign Dynamic Duo

Rye House Rockets fans were given a major boost ahead of tonights A11 challenge against Mildenhall with the news that two of the hottest prospects in British Speedway will be wearing their colours next year. Promoter Len Silver announced that both 16 year old Tai Woffinden and 18 year old Adam Roynon had pledged their future to the Hertfordshire club. Roynon is the reigning Conference League Riders Champion and impressed before breaking an ankle against the Isle of Wight in September. Woffinden who's father Rob rode for the club has had clubs queing up for his signature after an excellent season with Conference League Champions Scunthorpe. On the track the Rockets easily overcame their East Anglian rivals for the 5th time this season winning 62-32 with both Chris Neath and Steve Boxall only beaten once by an opponent.

Despite dominating proceedings at Broadhall Way Stevenage Borough were caught out by two decisive breaks from their opponents as they stumbled to a 2-0 defeat. Borough had enough possession to put the result beyond doubt but failed to produce any clear-cut opportunities. They were made to pay the price for defensive uncertainty as Northwich secured their fourth away win of the season. A Stuart Elliott penalty awarded after Jon Nurse had fouled Louis Dodds put the visitors in front after 19 minutes. Dodds low shot doubling their advantage 50 minutes later.

Colin Lippiatt will no doubt want to forget all about this one as soon as possible. His Saints side were comprehensively outplayed by a rampant Grays line up that showed St Albans no mercy. It took 41 minutes for the visitors to take the lead through Michael Kightly, but it was a four goal burst in nine second half minutes that killed off Saints. Adam Green added number two after 55 minutes before Glen Poole and Aaron Mclean both helped themselves to a brace to compound the home fans misery.

Ware bowed out of the FATrophy at the first attempt on a controversial afternoon at Wodson Park. Tenants Enfield rode their luck as the Blues hit the woodwork three times and had an injury time penalty decision reversed. Questions will also be asked about the goal that divided the two teams when Ware keeper Anthony Anstead looked to be pushed before carrying Owen Beal’s 14th minute corner over his own goal line. The Blues should have been in front by then Joe Stevens volley from Sam Roses’s long pass deserving a better fate than to bounce off the crossbar. Stevens was again denied by the woodwork as the half ran out his subtle flick decieving keeper Paul Daley only for the left hand post to come to Enfields rescue. Chris Ellerbeck was the next to test the goal frame crunching a shot against the bar from the left hand side of the box after 58 minutes. The major talking point came in injury time when Ware were awarded a penalty by referee Muge after John Frendo was pulled down in the box. Before Joe Stevens could take the spot kick the referee consulted his assistant producing a red card for an off the ball incident involving Ware skipper Danny Wolf. As Stevens put the ball on the spot for the second time the referee again consulted his assistant and reversed his original decision giving Enfield a free kick much to the amazement of the Ware bench. There was a further five minute delay as players and officials argued their case but this time the referees mind was made up and Enfield went through.

No Stopping Rampant Hertford
Hertford confirmed their place at the top of the Premier Division by thrashing Ruislip Manor 6-2 at the Glenridge Stadium. The Blues goal tally is now up to 26 in their last 5 games. Kevin Cooper helped himself to a hattrick while Ryan Redford took his season total to 18 with a brace. Kevin Ashwood scored Hertford's other goal as Manager Dave Greenwood maintained his unbeaten start. London Colney continue to impress The Blueboys are up to fourth after a 2-0 win over St Margaretsbury. Welwyn Garden City lost out by the only goal to high flying Edgware at Herns Lane. It was also a bad day for Colney Heath thumped 4-1 at Haringey Borough.
In Division One Hoddesdon maintained their 100% away record winning 3-1 at Arlesey Athletic.

A Phil Davies strike and two from Neil Barella kept the pressure on leaders Hadley as Hertford Heath won 3-0 at Wormley. Sandridge Rovers easily overcame Standon & Puckeridge 5-1 to stay 4th. Hatfield Town also hit five without reply at Bedmond. Jason Cashwell and Adam Fisher getting two apiece the fit again Adie Hammill weighing in with number five. Codicote have now lost their last three after going down 3-0 to Whitewebbs for the second week running. Kebworth failed to capitalise on last weeks goal spree losing 2-1 at London Lions Adam Lamacroft on target for Park.
In Division One Lemsford remain on top after a 6-4 win against Chipperfield Chris Jones notching a hattrick. Wodson Park bounced back from two straight defeats to beat Mill End 3-2 thanks to goals from Ross McGuilly, James Judkins and Steven Coughlan. Allenburys took their winning streak to three games beating North Mymms 2-1 thanks to goals by David Thompson and Simon Dredge. No joy for Little Munden though beaten 2-0 at Sarratt.
